Roots to Resilience: Join Us at Palm Center Community Garden
We're excited to announce that Benjamin & Farris is partnering with Urban Harvest for a hands-on permaculture workshop series — and Part 1 is coming up on Saturday, March 28th from 10am–12pm at the Palm Center Community Garden (5400 Griggs Rd, Houston, TX 77021).
This one is personal.
Palm Center Community Garden is where our founder, Pat Guillory, first put his hands in the soil. It's where he apprenticed under master gardener Terry Garner, learned to grow food, and developed the deep love for regenerative systems that would eventually become the foundation of Benjamin & Farris. Coming back to teach at Palm Center isn't just a workshop — it's a full circle moment, and a homecoming we're incredibly proud of.
"Roots to Resilience: Practical Permaculture for Thriving Gardens" is a three-part series designed to give Houston gardeners real, usable skills rooted in ecological wisdom. Whether you show up to one session or all three, you'll walk away with tools you can put to work in your garden immediately.
In this first workshop, you'll explore the ethics and principles of permaculture and how they apply to everyday garden spaces, learn the foundations of soil health, water awareness, and seasonal rhythms, and get a practical introduction to composting — transforming kitchen and yard waste into living soil. You'll also get to experience Palm Center Community Garden firsthand and learn about its vital role in local food sovereignty.
This series isn't just about plants. It's about building community, deepening ecological literacy, and reconnecting with the cycles that sustain us all. And for Pat, it's about giving back to the place that gave him so much.
